Imagine the digital landscape as an untamed frontier: wild, chaotic, but rife with opportunity.
Web design isn’t about being creative. It’s about building clear, working websites that help people do something. If you’re new, start there.
Every working site needs three things: a goal, content, and trust. If you don’t know what the site is for, who it’s for, and what you want them to do, stop. Figure that out first.
Your first project should be your own site. Treat it like a job. You are the client. Build it like you would for someone paying you. Make it simple, but complete.
At minimum, you need three pages:
Build the site with WordPress. Use a fast theme like Astra. Use Elementor or Gutenberg to lay it out. Keep it simple. Clean. Fast.
Don’t waste time on fancy animations or color theory. Focus on speed, clarity, and flow. Can the user find what they need? Can they act fast?
When that’s live, start building more. For friends. For small businesses. For made-up clients. You need reps. Each project teaches something new.
“Most people aren’t ready to hire a web designer. Not because they lack vision; but because their foundations are garbage. No domain. No content. No goal. Before you talk to anyone, fix that.”
